How do you gather evidence for a custody case?

Magistrate says she is not biased towards mom and we are both equal. Mom is a completely confident she has a slam dunk and will get primary custody so she is doing zero preparation. So I have a chance to win this if I can argue my points according to the law. Here are the legal criteria the case will be decided upon http://codes.ohio.gov/orc/3109.04

What kind of evidence can I gather to support my case?

things you dont need to say:

get a lawyer

talk to a lawyer

you really need a lawyer

you are stupid for not using a lawyer

while that stuff is INCREDIBLY helpful I have actually heard it before|||You need to show that placement with you is the best option for the children. If it is in the child's best interests, you will win. Stability and the ability to provide will be the most important things.

I agree with the points of the first poster as well.|||You will need to show HOW and WHY you are more fit to parent the child than his/her mother.

You will need to show proof that you have a plan in place as to how to raise the child.

Job stability, child care, income, support system (family etc), mental and physical health.

You need to show that you've thought this out further than "I don't want HER to have custody".|||Keep track of all your contact with the mother, what was said, when you called, etc. Keep track of all visitation you have with the child. Keep track of any child support payments you make and keep track of anything you buy for the child (clothing, diapers, etc). Make sure you keep record of every single thing and bring everything with you to court.
