Do credit card companies give mail advertising credit cards to people with bad credit?

I just got mail from Discover and they offered me a credit card service. Would they do that to someone with bad credit?|||Yes, the do. In fact, there are credit card companies and credit card issues that speciallize in providing credit cards to people with bad and poor credit scores. So even if you have a bad credit report score, expect to still receive credit cards offers.

The main differenece you will notice between the offers is the Interest rates. Even with people with bad credits they will offer enticing introductory rates but you will see that the standard rate after the introduction rate will be over 20% as compare to below 10% for those with good or excellent credit scores.

Assume I'm 20 and have never had a student or car loan OR a credit card. What do I need to do to establish credit?|||if you have a cell phone in your name... that helps to establish credit. just always pay your bill on time|||Go to your local bank or credit union open an account with $300 - $500 tell them you want a secured credit card. Use the card for small purchases like gas or food and pay the card off entirely each month on time.

Also you can open a savings account, save until you have $1,000. Tell your banker you want to take a installment loan out against the savings account. Take the money you receive and put it in your checking account to repay the loan. Pay it off in 12 months.

After a few months you can try for an unsecured card. Retail store cards and gas cards are normally easier to get.

It will take at least 24 months of consistent on time payments to establish your credit.|||It can be surprising how many people don't have a credit history. There are actually quite a few older consumers without a very strong credit history. They may have never had any credit in their names. Many wives find that their credit has always been maintained through their husbands. When they apply for something on their own, they have no history. Students, young people, newly single women and many older Americans may find that they are in need of a credit history. Or perhaps you have already established credit, but it is less than stellar. What should you do?There are a few ways. The best way is to simply apply for a small loan or line of credit from your local bank. Make sure that they will report the information to the credit bureau.

http://quickloans.we.bs/|||Go get a credit card. I'd recommend you join a credit union first, and get the card there. Credit unions don't typically charge higher fees like commercial banks and card companies.

You'll probably get a small credit limit at first. Maybe only a couple of thousand dollars. That's fine - you don't want a $50K line of credit at this point!

Is it better to pay off a credit card that has gone to collections?

I have one credit card, and only one. This capital one credit card went to collections a couple of months ago. I owe around $700 or $800. I'm wondering if it's better to pay off the credit card or just let it fall off of my credit whenever it will. My thought is that if it's already gone to collections won't it take 7 or more years to fall off of my credit anyway? So why give the collections company my money if it will take forever to come off of my credit anyway? Thanks.|||You pay it. It does not fall off. Capital One sues, gets a judgment so that 800 is now 3800 once you add in interest, collection agency fee and court costs.|||The sooner you pay it off, the better for you. One headache gone, without all the extras the collections company will charge, making it even harder to get rid of.

It will probably cost you more now than with capital one, but if you leave it, it will escalate beyond your expectations and become a big problem. Pay as much as you can, as often as you can. It will be worth the effort for peace of mind. The collections company may be willing to come to an arrangement, but my advice would be to pay even more, to get rid of it even quicker.|||Try to work out a deal with the collection agency. If you do make sure they update your credit report that you made a settlement. Your credit score is hosed but a settlement will help in the long run.

It will show that you're more credit worthy than the people that just say screw it and don't try to resolve the problem.|||Try to negotiate an agreement where you pay it in full and they remove the adverse reporting. I believe it is called Pay for Deletion or something like that.|||You will be given a new credit card by a new company.
